| Tiivistelmä: | The paper focuses on the role of institutional activism in prompting companies to improve profit performance and management. It provides the examination on the effectiveness of the potential collaborative management in performance improvement and tools needed for performance enhancement. The authors also pay attention to the impact of being included in a list of underperforming firms on the concerned companies. The authors provide evidence that, contrary to much of the existing literature, actions by institutional investors do affect the equity values of the companies targeted. The effect is not the same, however for all companies. |
