Tiivistelmä:The main argument in the Scumpeter’s theory of competitive behavior is that competitive advantage is becoming harder to sustain in several industries in the future. This argument has now been brought out also in connection with the concept of hypercompetition. The authors examine the Shumpeter’s argument of hypercompetition and his theory as a whole. An extensive study including two samples of companies is presented in the article. The results indicate that over time the competitive advantage truly is more difficult to sustain in wide range of companies. This phenomenon is limited neither to manufacturing industries nor to high-tech industries but is seen in several different industries. It can also bee seen that competitive advantage doesn’t mean only one advantage that is maintained over time but concentrating on bundles of advantages.
