The authors analyze some of the justifications given for today's executive pay policies. The "telephone number" incomes of some top executives has been a subject of public concern ever since the early Thatche years, but the debate really began to intensify during the recent recession, when employees were being made redundant, plants were closing and profits were plunging, but the rise in top executive pay hardly slowed at all. |
