Tiivistelmä:No company intentionally sets out to create mismatches among its product market divisions or functions, but such situations often evolve. The authors describe different types of coherencies and incoherencies or fits and misfits. The first step toward correcting the problem of dysfunctional divisions, departments, or strategies is to clarify the firm's mission statement. Second, open and honest communication facilitates strategic coherence. Finally , value-based strategic planning and portfolio analysis are quantitative ways to avoid incongruent strategies and to aim for coherent strategic management.
