| Tiivistelmä: | "Like a duet with barbarians," was how Hong Kong's Henry Tan Ying Yen described recent negotiations with U.S. customs officials. His choice of words was no accident. Hong Kong's Financial Secretary Donald Tsang Yam Kuen later denounced unilateral U.S. moves on textile imports as "barbaric". It seemed clear the harsh rethoric was part of a carefully orchestrated campaign. That the anger may have been calculated, however, made it no less real. Hong Kong may be hard hit, but it is not the only economy affected. |
