Tiivistelmä: | This case study investigates business relationships of a US window and door distributor with two suppliers: a special partnership and a typical transactional vendor. The unique relationship with a much larger supplier is today considered a strategic alliance. The strong partnership gives benefits for both, but the distributor is more vulnerable because of the strong brand recognition and differentiated status of the vendor's product line. Dependence, relationship investment and switching costs are viewed as important components of relationship.The typical business relationship discussed in the case has a low strategic importance to the distributor. |
