| Tiivistelmä: | Museums have not been a priority area of study in economics. At the same time, recent years have seen a much greater interest in this area. In this article, the authors sketch out some of the more interesting economic features of museums, drawing on the papers that follow as appropriate. Inevitably some selectivity in the choice of topics is necessary. The authors look first at museums as productive organizations. Then they consider some policy issues. They conclude with some suggestions for future research. |
