Tiivistelmä:Advertising and marketing to children has received a considerable amount of publicity in recent years. This has led to a rather emotional debate, often lacking in objectivity, but one which is centered around conflicting views on children's ability to understand the advertising and marketing message. Practitioners have called on eminent psychologists to produce evidence that children are not affected by the marketing message, while protectionists call upon their own 'experts' to produce evidence that children are harmed by the marketing message. In some cases the debate has become a philosophical one between right and left in politics.
