Tiivistelmä:Peat combustion is a major driver of nitrogen and phosphorus fluxes from the environment in Finland. By conducting a partial substance flow analysis, this article examines the flows of nitrogen and phosphorus in the Finnish energy system. The results of the study reveal a continous rise of nitrogen and phosphorus fluxes in the Finnish energy system over the past century. To enable the lowering of nitrogen and phosphorus emissions, the article calls for investment in technological innovations, changes in the mix of fuels and reorganization of the structure of energy production.
