| Tiivistelmä: | The notion and extent of globalization of the US economy is discussed. A surprising number of manufacturers are doing business on a global scale. Unlike the mammoth multinationals, middle-sized corporations don't have the infrastructure, the money, the political power bases, or large enough employment and tax contributions to wrest special concessions from host countries. Four of the most successful middle-sized global companies are examined. The keys to their success are: a highly focused strategy, a long-term perspective, an extraordinarily detailed planning process, a direct consumer-oriented marketing, a striving for technology leadership. |
