Tiivistelmä:Most performance appraisal systems fail as motivational tools because feedback is too far removed from employee performance. The solution is to augment the system with immediate measurements, such as time-based index, which is a simple calculation based on estimated and actual time required to complete a task. The time-based index provides a job-by-job feedback needed to maximise motivation. It can be seen as a substitute for the more sophisticated Management by Objectives system which is too time consuming to allow managers to give subordinates expedient feedback.
