Tiivistelmä:In this paper, the link between power and information (henceforth as: info.) in organizations (here as: org./orgs.) is empirically investigated. A method is suggested for measuring the relative power of an organizational (as: org-al.) unit in an org. due to the info. possessed by it. Based on the Strategic contingencies theory (as: SCT), info. is regarded as an explanatory (independent) variable (here as: var./vars.), additional to the traditional vars. of the SCT. Measured were two types of power: (i.) perceived power and (ii.) participation power. Two types of info. were investigated: (i.) conveyed info. and (ii.) produced info. In general, it was found out that info. indeed affects the org-al. power of units within the org. Influence is both direct and indirect, through a control variable, the type (i.e. the function) of the unit etc.
