| Tiivistelmä: | In the 1980s, the annual average rate of growth of China's GNP chalked up 9 percent. Growth accelerated in the 1990s , being 13 percent in 1992, and 13.4 percent in 1993, also among the top ones in the world. In 1993, the GNP reached over 3000 billion yuan. Foreign trade expanded rapidly. The gross value of imports and exports was US$20.6 billion in 1978, but up to US$191 billion in 1993, 91 billion of which came from exports, and US$100 billion from imports. |
