Tiivistelmä:There is an enormous gulf between what scientists know... and what needs to be known before decisions about environmental risks can be based on conclusive evidence. The author begins with two premises. First, that we all have "risk thermostats". And second, that our risk thermostats have cultural filters. The model presented in this article postulates that everyone has a propensity to take risks; this propensity varies from one individual to another; this propensity is influenced by the potential rewards of risk-taking.
