ANALYTICAL REVIEW
Kieli:eng
Tiivistelmä:For most of the postwar period in the UK and elsewhere governments have failed in carrying out one of their most important recognized functions: protecting their citizens from crime. For England and Wales, for example, recorded crime increased eleven fold between the mid-1950s and the early 1990s. The dominant perspective within the economics of crime and law enforcement emanates from Chicago. It largely applies the assumptions, principles and methodologies of micro mainstream economic theory to crime, law and its institutions. The economics of crime perspective advances a deterrence model whereby all of us, as potential criminals, weigh up the benefits and costs of criminal activity over legal labour market participation.
