Tiivistelmä:Mathematical programming models of production planning have been developed since the early sixties. In spite of intensive theoretical discussion and huge enchancement in data processing capability and information systems are hardly used in practice. This might be due to the fact that the central planning unit requires information to be acquired from different departments in the organisation. The interest in preserving organizational slack induces the department managers to distort the information on their capabilities. The present article studies an incentive scheme to reduce this problem. In essence it is an extension of the well-known scheme proposed by Th. Groves. Based on the work of Cohen and Loeb (1984) it is shown that, in theory, this scheme leads to a solution which maximizes the profit of the organisation net of the subjective management cost.
