Tiivistelmä:This particular company has been selected for analysis because its Mercedes cars are known worldwide for engineering excellence. The article introduces a strategic planning model and the Matrix for the analysis of critical issues faced by Daimler. This Matrix is an analytical tool for identifying Daimler's strengths and weaknesses as well as the relationships to external opportunities and threats. Four strategies have been developed: 1) the SO maxi-maxi strategy aiming at maximizing both strengths and opportunities, 2) the ST, or maxi-mini strategy, maximizing the strengths and minimizing the external threats, 3) the WO, or mini-maxi strategy, designed to minimize the weaknesses and use opportunities, 4) the WT strategy, which aims at minimizing both weaknesses and threats.
