| Tiivistelmä: | The divergent strategic orientations of national Korean and Taiwanese firms are analyzed. The origins of these divergent strategic orientations are traced. The results of field interviews with Korean and Taiwanese manufacturers of footwear, of keyboards for personal computers, and of assembled personal computers are summarized. The implications of the observed differences for the national firms and for their international competitors are explored. Challenges ahead of Korean and Taiwanese firms and their effects on strategic orientations are discussed. |
