Tiivistelmä:A strategic overview of the European market for over the counter (OTC) health care products is presented, placing it within the context of the other major world markets: the USA, Canada, Japan and Australia. The world's OTC health market is analyzed through statistical tables on world sales and on sales in major and selected European markets. The role of self-medication in OTC sales is found to be the major driving force in market growth, presenting tables for different countries. Market sector data are also presented, for various OTC health care groups. Consumer expenditures are analyzed.
