| Tiivistelmä: | This article surveys emprical studies exploring the impact of privatization in developing economies. Usually privatization enhances the operating and financial performance of divested firms. Only few studies suggest performance declines. Almost all studies indicate significate increases in output, efficiency, profitability and capital investment spending, and major declines in leverage. Stronger efficiency gains are found in regulated industries, in firms that restructure operations after privatization, and in countries which offer greater amounts of shareholder protection. |
