Tiivistelmä: | The 1984 Workplace Industrial Relations Survey data are used to examine changes in the number and distribution of share ownership programmes in Great Britain since 1980. A remarkable increase in employee share ownership is observed. Three types of sharing scheme (share ownership scheme, profit-sharing scheme and value-added bonus scheme) are compared. The econometric results are summarized. Three conclusions are drawn. Profit sharing appears much more common than has been popularly realised. Establishments with profit-related pay do not have superior financial performance. Sharing and non-sharing establishment have similar employment growth rates and approximately the same quality of industrial relations. |
