Tiivistelmä:Within the framework of intercultural research into leadership an empirical study of medium-sized enterprises in Nigeria and Taiwan investigated the question as to which style of leadership, and in what manner, were related to economic success. The measurement methodology of economic success as well as of leadership behaviour is described. There is evidence that in Nigeria and Taiwan production-oriented leadership styles related positively to economic success, whereas employee-oriented leadership styles related negatively. This finding is discussed from the perspective of contingency theory. Conclusions are drawn for the personnel management and leadership policies of transnational corporations.
