| Tiivistelmä: | Deng Xiaoping started to reform the Chinese economy in 1979. China is now shifting to a market based economy, despite ideological breaks and practical difficulties. Her banking system also reflects this middle-on-the-road status. No teller machines, no personal cheques, very poor communications, but the centralized banking system is to be replaced by a multi-level one. Post-saving banks only appeared in some years ago. Trade in stocks and bonds has just started, but most collectives do not understand the concept of stock- holding. |
