| Tiivistelmä: | Achieving appropriate accountability of volunteers, who cannot be controlled by conventional contracts or remuneration, presents an ethical and managerial challenge at social businesses. This paper briefly describes, and then draws from, the long historical tradition of compiling checklists of ethical attributes to suggest a means to improve the practical implementation of accountability at both collective and personal levels. It is suggested that, where participants consciously focus together to list aspirations and the ethical qualities needed to implement these, clearer understanding should emerge as to requirements for organisational accountability, both internally and externally. |
