| Tiivistelmä: | In this paper the author studies the wages rise in Russia after the 1998 financial crisis; especially the rise of lowly paid women workers. The author uses the Russian longitudinal Monitoring Survey from 1996 through 2002, to find out whether it helped to reduce the gender wage cap. The findings indicate that temporary widening of the overall gender wage gap in 2000 was because low-wage women were more likely to receive full wages than low-wage paid men. |
