| Tiivistelmä: | This article analyses the deployment of robotics at Fiat, therefore contributing to the debate on the decline and transformation of mass production in the 1970s and 1980s. The article shows that the deployment of robotics was selective and localized, where the potential flexibility of robotics was constrained by a path-dependent approach to process technology development. |
