| Tiivistelmä: | During the last few decades, the development of information technology has been primarily of benefit to production departments or central administrative departments responsible for the processing of huge amounts of data and in these areas there have indeed been remarkable increases in productivity. Since the beginning of the seventies, however, there has been a marked trend towards the decentralize application of new information technology in the office. The office is considered as a field for the application of new technology and explains recent advances, together with their organizational implications. The economic aspects and prerequisites are considered for the application of this technology. |
