| Tiivistelmä: | New roles are seen emerging for futurists, with one important direction being an action-oriented, as contrasted with a knowledge-oriented, role. There are deep issues of ethics and responsibility that futurists are not yet facing. A built-in distrust of futures work is seen in our society, which has led futurists to shy away from whatever they could not deal with according to strict methodological dictates. This attitude has to be reexamined. Regionalism and reorganization of social functions are on the rise, and the society's organizational instrumentalities no longer fit the challenges well enough. |
