Tiivistelmä:This paper examines the globally growing trend of devolution of human resource responsibilities. The study is based on a mail survey of human resource managers in various American organizations and industries. The aim of the survey is to map the impact of devolution on human resource managers' perceptions of human resource management effectiveness. In line with antecedent research which has suggested both positive and negative effects, the results of this study indicate that devolution may help make human resource management more effective. It was also found that managers get more support in devolver organizations than in non devolver ones.
