Tiivistelmä:World-wide industrial competition means tougher times for all OECD countries. Competition is growing inexorably and increasingly rapidly for the products in which the OECD countries have had a commanding lead - manufacturing and other sophisticated industrial products. The author discusses the increasing competitiveness of non-OECD countries. He argues that Britain is in a better position to face such competition than some other industrial countries and sees little risk in cutting interest rates. Britain must continue its supply-side policies, with low taxes and public spending, and low real interest rates.
