| Tiivistelmä: | This paper examines empirically the relationship between guanxi-based business determinants and the performance of foreign-invested enterprises (FIE) operating in China. Guanxi-based business variables are significantly and positively related to firm's accounting and market performance. Guanxi has a significant and positive impact on firm's efficiency and effectiveness. This impact is modified by the investing and operating characteristics of FIEs. By understanding and incorporating the guanxi factor in their business decisions, foreign investors can gain an edge over their competitors. |
