Tiivistelmä:It is questioned: What does it take to be a good company? This question is approached in two new ways: 1. A normative answer is offered, grounded in virtue ethics, by introducing a 3-fold typology of organizational (here as: org-al.) forms. The moral goodness of each form depends on the congruence btw. its purpose and virtues. 2. A positive answer is offered in the form of a processual model tracing corporate goodness to its empirical antecedents and consequences. It is predicted that if managers succeed in establishing in their organizations the kind of virtues necessary to support collective moral agency, they can expect to reap gains like enhanced effectiveness and legitimacy. However, when neglecting their moral responsibilities, the result will likely be org-al. departure.
