Tiivistelmä:It is useful to explain some of the differences between capitalist, labour-managed and participatory firms in terms of the different distribution of information they are likely to possess. It is stated that capitalist firms have a much more asymmetric distribution of information among members of the firm, than well-designed labour managed firms. Existing theoretical models aimed at explaining the efficiency of participatory arrangements are examined critically. It is shown, how the informational approach can be used to analyse the introduction of participatory arrangements. Several potential criticisms of the informational model are also discussed.
