| Tiivistelmä: | This paper examines ways in which maintainability criteria may be introduced into mechanical engineering design contracts. Qualitative and quantitative statemens of requirements are considered from the viewpoint of the designer. Suitable methods are proposed by which design requirements can be satisfied and which are also compatible with typical forms of contract. The feasibility of introducing financial penalties in the event of poor maintainability is also discussed. |
