Tiivistelmä:This article investigates three mode choices, four underlying dimensions of mode choice and seven situational influences on choice as determined from the literature, interviews with firm executives operating abroad, and survey data collected from top executives of Canadian manufacturing companies with international activities. Socio-cultural distance variable seemed to have significant influence to the choice among export, contractual and investment entry arrangements. Firms are more likely to choose contractual than investments modes, as socio-cultural distance increases. Tacit knowhow, socio-cultural distance and product differentiation were the situational determinants that influenced separate choice dimensions.
