| Tiivistelmä: | The proliferation of Edge Act Corporations is discussed as a result of the current expansion of international banking. The background of the process is highlighted. The regulation of Edge Act Companies is described. Changes in the regulatory environment are analysed. Growth and concentration trends are highlighted. Two important roles of the Edge Act Corporations are mentioned. International financial services provided to foreign and domestic customers are discussed. EAC is described as a vehicle for furthering the domestic and international objectives of its parent bank. The importance of additional research in this field is stressed. |
