Tiivistelmä: | Viewing from the perspective of stakeholder theory, this article explains problems and opportunities created by standardized ethics initiatives (here as: s-e-inits.), e.g. the UN Global Compact. S-e-inits. are critically evaluated by drawing on descriptive, instrumental, and normative stakeholder theory. It is explained why these standards are helpful tools when it comes to 'managing' stakeholder relations but also facing considerable limitations that can eventually complicate their successful expansion. Possible ways to cope with the identified problems are outlined. Hence, it is shown how standard-setting institutions can improve the initiatives offered by them. |
