Tiivistelmä:The Asia-Pacific region is rapidly emerging as the third economic center in the world. The European presence in this region is, in comparison with Japan and the USA, still rather modest. This article focuses on the experiences of Dutch investors with operating manufacturing plants in Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. The survey results indicate that access to growing local markets was the dominant motive, rather than exploiting labour cost advantages. Subsequent challenges in manufacturing and logistics are generally considered to be manageable problems.
