| Tiivistelmä: | Individual renewable energy sources and their utilization are described, the natural energy flows in the earth-atmosphere system are presented. The global energy resources at the surface of the earth are estimated. The various conversion techniques are discussed, in terms of technological requirements and of basic efficiency limits. The current technological development stage is described and evaluated for the major renewable energy forms: solar, wind, waves, hydro and biomass. The future share and possible developments of renewables are estimated. |
