| Tiivistelmä: | Energy conservation incentive programmes are successful in the USA because they motivate teachers, students and staff to personally become involved in reducing energy consumption in schools. Issues involved in establishing and maintaining an incentive-based approach are explained. Comparisons of the different programmes are made to reveal the common problems encountered and to determine what characteristics led to a successful initiative. It appears that the most important component of a successful programme is the existence of a key individual willing and capability to direct the effort at the district level. |
