| Tiivistelmä: | Election forecasting in Japan dates back to a quarter of a century. The significant inaccuracy of the opinion pollers in the 1983 and 1986 elections indicates that Japanese opinion polling is approaching a turning point. Despite the advances in statistical analysis and computer technology, election forecasting has slightly deteriorated. This is due to several circumstances:increasingly complex political situation, difficulties in access to voters' list, and a drop in the response rate. |
