| Tiivistelmä: | Self-altering prophecies are expectations by a source person that, when communicated, lead to behaviour of a target person that would not have occurred had the prophecy not been made. The prophecy may be confirmed or may not. The most well-known example of an SFP (self-fulfilling prophecy) is that of Pygmalion whose living statue was named Galatea. In management contexts the SFP effect does not exist. An SFP leader model is presented here that may be prescriptively used by leaders in organizations to produce a group social situation of high expectations. (The positive change caused by organization members is called the Metharme effect (after the daughter of Pygmalion and Galatea). |
