Tiivistelmä:This study aims at understanding the extent to which public relations practitioners use dissent tactics under organizational unethical decisions. It is explored how such division is made easier by environment. Using a web-based survey assisted by the research team of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), a systematic random sample of more than 6,000 practitioners was drawn from the 2008 PRSA membership directory. The results reaffirmed that "assertive confrontation" was the most frequently adopted tactic to resist an unethical organizational decision. It was more likely of practitioners confronting management in an organization with top leaders not supporting or exhibiting ethical behaviour. In the case an organization does not have a code of ethics, practitioners were more likely to agitate others to object the unethical decision. Once an organization does not value open communication, selective use of information and sabotage tactics were adopted.
