| Tiivistelmä: | A non-parametric analysis of technology, technical change and productivity is presented, in the context of cost minimizing behaviour. First, non-parametric analysis of production decisions is considered, using an augmentation hypothesis in the context of technical change. A series of non-parametric tests for the existence and nature of technical change are derived, assuming costs minimization. Empirical implementation of these tests is discussed. An application of the proposed methodology to USA and Japanese manufacturing data is discussed. Non-parametric measures of technical change are presented. |
