| Tiivistelmä: | The author of the article states that recent corporate collapses have called the role of non-executive directors into question once again. The author answers the question why they can't get it right. Supposedly guarding shareholders' interests against greed, corruption, megalomania or jus plain incompetence, the non- executive army is accused of being asleep and its post - or worse, complicit. In particular questions have been asked about non-executives at Enron and Marconi, and string of other corporate calamities over the past year or two. The author states that we need stronger, more independent and more active non-executives drawn from a wider pool of talent to play their part in rising productivity. |
