| Tiivistelmä: | Many or the most industries will likely be transformed in the near future by IT. This may lead to extinction of many large companies, and the boards of directors of these companies should now take new roles and pay more attention to the possible impacts of IT. The article presents a study including data about 15 European and North American companies. The authors argue, drawing on their study, that there are two different kinds of technology revolutions going on and the boards of directors should be able to determine which of them is likely to be facing their industry. After this they have to take actions depending on the type of revolution they are going to face. |
