| Tiivistelmä: | The goal of study is to examine the impacts of the dramatic changes underway in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union on the world economy, in particular on trade and capital markets. Since the longer term trends in these countries is impossible to predict for several reasons, the approach adopted is to explore scenarios which illuminate the possibilities in circumstances, firstly, where all goes well in these countries; and, secondly where all goes badly. The scenarios depend on the interaction of political and economic pressures which lead to the expected success or failure of reforms. |
