| Tiivistelmä: | Simulation has become an important tool for the development of computer chips, information networks and combat tactics. Yet, development/modification of corporate organizations, an activity costing billions of dollars and thousands of man-hours, is not typically subject to simulation. Arguments are presented that, with the decreasing price of information systems and the ever-increasing capabilities of these systems, simulation technology could - and should - be expanded to provide tools for the development of organizations. A hypothetical application of the concept to a manufacturing organization is described and analyzed. It is shown how various "what if" scenarios present different requirements to the simulation process. |
