| Tiivistelmä: | An international approach to the theory of multinational enterprises (MNE) related to equity joint ventures, which using a transaction cost paradigm can occasionally be preferred to wholly owned subsidiaries. An empirical work is presented on performance that suggests that under certain conditions joint ventures in developing countries could be an optimal form of direct foreign investment. The paper focuses on joint ventures in the context of international horizontal diversification strategies. |
