Tiivistelmä:This study analyzes the relationship btw. religion, education and social (hereafter as: soc.) mobility in Scotland using the Scottish Household Survey 2001. Issues dealt with are as follows: What are the religious (here as: relg.) differences (as: diff./diffs.) in the distributions of class origins and destinations etc.? Do changes in social fluidity (as: soc. fl-ty.) across cohorts (as: ch-ts.) vary among people with different relg. affiliation? Are there relg. diffs.in the association of origins and education etc.? It is concluded that in younger ch-ts., there are no relg. diff. in soc. status. In older ch-ts., Catholics are generally of lower status than Protestants and the non-relg. ones. However, soc. fl-ty. does not vary among relg. groups, even for older ch-ts., and it does not change over time. The reason for convergence in soc. status of relg. groups over time is probably the equalizing of educational attainment among the groups.
